Simonne Boudreau, Grande-Anse, N.B., was beaten to death by her common-law partner in her home sometime between December 30, 2006 and New Year’s Day,
2007. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison. The relationship, which began in 2004, was rocky and violent. He had a history of domestic violence and a criminal record and was on probation at the time of the murder for assaulting a former partner. Friends and family recall seeing Simonne with injuries and black eyes and they encouraged her to leave him. Simonne was an exceptional woman. She loved life. She was cheerful, playful, and constantly smiling. She loved animals, music and going for a drive. She was a marvelous mother to her two children. Simonne was a nursing assistant for the Red Cross. We miss her a lot, but she will live forever in our hearts.
