Catherine Jeffries, Campbellton, NB was killed by her common-law partner on January 8, 1999. Later that afternoon he turned himself in to the RCMP who found Catherine’s body in her living room. He had stabbed her several times, but the fatal cut was to her throat. The stabbing was so violent that her head was almost severed. He was sentenced to life in prison for second-degree murder without eligibility for parole for 14 years.

Catherine was a loving mother of a son age 22 at the time of her death. She was the oldest of Lionel and Isabel Durette’s five children. Because of a fit of rage Catherine never met her granddaughter and will never see her two grandchildren grow up. Catherine is no longer with us but, she will be in our hearts forever. Cathy we love you.
