Colette Cimon
39, Madawaska

Colette Cimon, Madawaska Maliseet First Nation, New Brunswick was killed on January 24th, 1993, along with her boyfriend. The man who shot them was obsessively in love with Colette even though they never had a loving relationship together.  He was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without eligibility for parole for 16 years for each murder with the sentences to be served concurrently.
Colette was a very gentle and sensible person. She knew how to listen to people and had a heart bigger than the world. Always smiling and laughing, she liked nice things, jewels and liked to dance. Sportswoman, she once received the title “Athlete of the Year” for the Atlantic Provinces.  She was called the “Blond Comet”. Children were attracted to her as she communicated only positivism to them. Collette was a nursing student at the Centre Universitaire Saint-Louis-Maillet.
We will always remember Colette as a light of hope.
