Diane Finn Savoie
32, Pokemouche

Diane Finn Savoie, Pokemouche, N.B., was killed in her home along with her twenty-three month-old son, Nicholas, on August 12, 2000. Her former common-law partner stabbed her many times and then started a fire in the residence. He later took his own life in the woods near his home. The police and firefighters found the bodies of Diane and her son after a neighbour called to report the fire.

Diane was known for her love of others. She was a devoted mother and nurse. She was attentive to the needs and to the pain of those around her. She was continuing her education in order to get her Master’s degree. She appreciated her time at Extra-Mural, since it allowed her to forge close links with her patients and their families. She had faith and the soul of an artist. She loved nature, animals, flowers, and children. Daughter, sister, aunt, niece, mother, and woman: Diane, despite her young age, will leave behind an indelible impression.

We miss Diane enormously. She was always happy and smiling. She has left a huge void in our hearts.
